S.H.I.P. in residence in Sacquety Hall: January 15-29

St. Wilfrid’s hosts the Self Help Interfaith Program (known as “S.H.I.P”) from January 15th -January 29th. S.H.I.P.’s guests will be staying in Sacquety Hall. The guests are formerly-homeless adults getting back on their feet (with the help of God working through our parish). The number of guests staying with us varies, but there are usually four to six. Please stop by the S.H.I.P. table for more information about S.H.I.P., what St. Wilfrid’s does while the guests are here, and to sign up to help with dinners, night and weekend supervision and other needs. The table is outside the church before and after the 10:00 a.m. service. For information about S.H.I.P. and its ministry, visit the S.H.I.P Web site (shipinoc.org) or contact Don Dorsett (714-397-0947, or dwdorsett@aol.com).

St. Wilfrid's believes in reaching out to our community and our world with expressions of the love of Christ in a variety of forms. Our ongoing sponsorship of Beach Cities Interfaith Services, under the careful leadership of Carol Sneary, touches the lives of the homeless and underprivileged in Orange County. We also support and host S.H.I.P (Self Help Interfaith Services) on campus bi-annually. They are assisted in regaining employment and becoming self sustaining members of society. In other efforts to support our local community, we have regularly support the Aids Walk of Orange County, and recently partnered with Habitat for Humanity to build a home for a family in need, as well as, hundreds of planter boxes for home gardens. This parish family has also responded in a big way to natural disasters around the world, giving through Episcopal Relief and Development to assist with tsunami relief and the combined hurricane disasters in the Gulf Coast and Northeast Region of the United States.
