The Rev. Canon Michael D. Archer

Rector / michael@stwilfridschurch.org

Fr. Michael joined the staff of St. Wilfrid's in 2005, after more than 20 years of ministry in Oklahoma, Arizona, and California. Subsequent to his appointment as priest-in-charge in April 2008, Michael was elected the 4th rector of St. Wilfrid's in October 2009. His ministry is marked by a deep love for Holy Scripture and a commitment to extending the inexhaustible grace of God to as many people as possible.

Rev. Karen graduated from Trinity School for Ministry in Ambridge, Pa., in May of 2007. After six years serving three churches in the Inland Empire (St. Peter’s, Rialto; St. Clare of Assisi, Rancho Cucamonga; and St. Luke’s, Fontana) with her late husband, Fr. Dave Maurer, they begin their ministry in February, 2014 here at St. Wilfrid’s. Rev. Karen is committed to caring for God’s people, working with and alongside St. Wilfrid’s staff, members and the wider Huntington Beach community, listening and paying attention to the movement of the Holy Spirit, and serving Jesus with love, enthusiasm, humor and an understanding of God’s unmerited grace.

The Rev. Gina Gore was ordained a transitional deacon in June, 2015, after receiving a Master of Divinity degree from Episcopal Divinity School in Cambridge, Mass., and a Diploma of Theology from Bloy House, the Episcopal Theological Seminary at Claremont, in May, 2015. She was ordained to the priesthood in January, 2016. Since 2006 Gina has helped plant and build an experimental church community of the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles called Thad’s. Her passions include Christian education, helping the homeless, multicultural ministry, and music. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband and two children, and their eldest is away at college. It is with great gratitude, excitement and honor that Gina joins our community at St. Wilfrid’s, especially helping to ensure that our children and youth feel, know, hear and see the love of God, and grow in faith!

The Rev. Canon Charles Sacquety

Rector Emeritus / emeritus@stwilfridschurch.org

Fr. Charles served as rector of St. Wilfrid's from 1978-1998. He has remained active on the Diocese of Los Angeles since his retirement, serving several congregations as interim priest and providing his unique leadership and assistance wherever our bishops have requested. Fr. Charles has returned to St. Wilfrid's on a regular basis, assisting where needed and providing his warm smile and contagious laugh to the community and campus he worked so faithfully to build.

Terry and his husband Kurt, joined St. Wilfrid’s in 2004. Terry soon became a volunteer and served as treasurer and also handled all human resource matters. In 2011 Terry was privileged to join the St. Wilfrid’s staff as parish administrator. Terry considers his position a ministerial calling and he is honored to be able to assist the clergy and staff in meeting the spiritual needs of our parishioners. Prior to working at St. Wilfrid’s, Terry was a Vice President/District Manager for Wells Fargo Bank and served as a volunteer for various non-profits.

Since 1976, Deborah Pratt has taught and directed both preschool and school-age childcare. She obtained a Bachelors of Science (B.S.) in Human Development from Hope International University in Fullerton, California. She also received a Child Development Program Director and Site Supervisor permit from the State of California’s Commission on Teacher Credentialing.

Ms. Pratt is delighted to make a difference in our community, and looks forward to another year of sharing God’s love with staff, children and their families at St. Wilfrid’s Episcopal Preschool, and the School and Homework Club.

Christopher Gravis is the Minister of Music and Arts at St. Wilfrid of York Episcopal Church in Huntington Beach, CA. Mr. Gravis has been the leading figure in developing St. Wilfrid’s as a parish that proudly celebrates the exceptional Anglican musical tradition. Under his musical guidance the parish has expanded to offer well-attended services of monthly Evensong. He is in demand throughout the state as a trainer of choirs and as a specialist in Anglican liturgy. For the past three years he has served at the request of the bishop for the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles directing the chorus for the LGBT Coming Out Day liturgy.

Mr. Gravis holds degrees in sacred music and conducting from the University of Redlands, and California State University, Fullerton. In addition to his responsibilities with St. Wilfrid’s, Christopher is proud to serve as the artistic director of the Orange County Choral Society – a large semi-professional community chorus. As a performer of early music he sings with the L.A. Schola and on occasion with St. James’ in the City, Los Angeles. Gravis has recently served on the faculty of the USC Thornton School of Music, where he taught courses conducting and is currently completing his Doctor of Musical Arts degree.

Before I came to St. Wilfrid's Episcopal Church in 2004, I was very satisfied with my vocations: family, teaching and work in the medical field. The day I entered the office to inquire about ministries at St. Wilfrid's, I found my "avocation:" fellowship, i.e., working and planning weddings, events and so on. I was already a certified event and wedding planner, so this was right for me. I could go on but I feel this is enough about me. I look forward to having the opportunity to meet you and hear your story.
