“....we live through a thousand winters in our lives—some big, some small.” —Katherine May, Wintering Winter is a season of stillness and rebirth, and this program illuminates the darkest month of the year with music about wood smoke and Northern Lights, hibernating creatures, the sounds of midnight birdsong, rest, dreams, and rejuvenation. The concert features Vincent Persichetti’s haunting Winter Cantata, alongside a rich array of complementary works.
