Worship Music at St. Wilfrid's

We are blessed at St. Wilfrid’s to have two excellent music offerings enhancing our worship services. Jamond McCoy leads the music at our 8:30am service, bringing a blend of contemporary and acoustic selections. The St. Wilfrid Choir performs at our 10:30am service, leading hymns and presenting traditional anthems and chants.

  • The St. Wilfrid Choir

If you are seeking to enrich your spiritual journey with music that touches the soul and brings peace, look no further. Each Sunday at the 10:30 AM service, The St. Wilfrid Choir, lead by our Minister   offers a rich tapestry of sacred music, leading the congregation in hymns, performing beautiful choral anthems, and creating moments of reflection with traditional chants. The choir has toured internationally and performed at prestigious venues, including Westminster Abbey. Recently, they collaborated with the Laguna Beach Chamber Singers to present the Duruflé Requiem and the world premiere of Toward the Dawn by Thomas LaVoy. Come and experience music that uplifts the spirit and connects us to the divine.

  • Jamond McCoy

Jamond, the Worship Leader at the 8:30am service, is an improvisational jazz and gospel influenced vocalist, pianist, composer, arranger, session singer, and accompanist creating music for various venues and other fellow musicians. He is dedicated and committed to giving each musical endeavor the passion, energy, and respect it deserves. His current endeavors include teaching at studios, and working as an assistant director at the Monterey Jazz Summer Camp, and giving back to the church communities that helped shape him as a music director. Jamond is looking forward to pushing the limits and carrying on the legacy of M-pact music group for which he now sings baritone. Outside of music, he absolutely loves all things food and puts as much passion into eating and making food as he does music.

    JAMOND MCCOY

    Blue Christmas Service

Sometimes, due to loss, grief, or for whatever reason, it can be hard to enter into the joy of the season. We acknowledge this reality, not by pretending that it doesn’t exist, but by acknowledging that God is with us, even when we may feel otherwise. The Blue Christmas Service provides an opportunity for people to come just as they are – they don’t have to pretend that they are happy when they are feeling sad, pretend to be engaged when they feel despondent, or smile when they feel isolated or lonely. This service is designed to provide space for those who have something to lament and to reflect God’s radical welcome – that we can come to God no matter we are on our spiritual journey, not matter what our recent experiences have been.

    Arms

The OCWC spring concert is a memorial to the more than 40,000 Americans killed by guns every year, and a contemplation on how we find peace amid the violence. You’ll hear songs that ask hard questions, songs that preserve the names and the voices of those we’ve lost, and songs that imagine a world in which the arms that kill are conquered by the arms that embrace. Join us for this unique musical meditation on pain, healing, and love. This is a program you will not forget. The themes and texts of this program will be difficult for children. “This ensemble has never hesitated to use our music to give voice to the issues that concern us and concern our society, and gun violence surely has to be near the top of that list in the United States in 2024,” says OCWC’s Artistic Director, Eliza Rubenstein. “Sometimes we sing purely for entertainment; sometimes we sing about what’s weighing heavy on our minds.”
